Happy 1st Blogiversary !!!

It seems to be the trend to throw yourself a party of sorts, or call out the marching band and baton twirlers, when your little child blog turns one. After a lot of brainstorming, some phone calls to a few circus acts and caterers..... I've decided to throw out the party and just take you on a trip down memory lane.

For those of you who'd like in on a little secret, I actually blogged for a whole month privately before I let the site go live. It's my biggest piece of advice for new bloggers. It allows you to really find your writing voice, decide how you want posts to look and build up your site history before inviting people over. So this reminded me that, unless you've ventured into the black hole of my blog, a lot of you have probably never seen my very first post...... and it's high time you did!

Without further adieu...... I give you...... my very first blog post --->

No better time for starting something new than Spring.

We spent our annual Easter brunch with our NY family at 'Gun Club.'

First day the legs came out sans tights this year!  Great excuse to wear my darling gifted skirt courtesy of Leslie at Lulu Grace Vintage!  Also loving the DIY hardware store necklace idea from PS I Made This!

Hope this blogging thing comes naturally... stay tuned.

It was quite a short and sweet little post, wouldn't you say?! A fancy iPhone photo and some great little clip art style pictures of my shoes and hardware necklace! Such an example of 'work what your mama gave you' moment. Proud to see where I've grown with my blog both creatively and visually in the past 365 days. Thank you from the depths of my heart for being a part of this venture with me, hope we have years and years to come together. Obviously couldn't do it without y'all, or honestly, I would still just be blogging to myself and my dad.... (Hi Dad!).

Spring Trend :: Structured Maxi Skirt

Continuing with the spring-theme this week, I bring you a loud pastel striped skirt! This quirky piece was found at my favorite thrift store - Housing Works. I have a feeling it was a homemade piece and was probably used for a play or Broadway show of sorts given the stitching and its tag-less-ness. Finding pieces that were made for a show are sometimes my favorite.... they are guaranteed original, usually really fun fabrics and always a wee-bit over the top..... case in point, this skirt.

Tip : a key thing to do with something as bold as this skirt is to pair it with a quieter piece. I took inspiration from Jil Sander's looks of last year and paired this skirt with a basic white tee.

Cabin Dreams + Week(end) Roll Call

Coming into the office today I saw loads of commuters with their weekender bags packed and ready to flee the city as the clock hits 5pm. Frankly, it makes me want to jump in a car, grab our friends and head back out to our dream cabin in Maine. I really need to invest in a teleportation machine!

A glimpse inside the inner workings of my mind this week ::

- After eyeing pages of inspiring images like these and these..... I've decided I want tear apart and re-do the whole back section of our loft and add a sweet desk / office corner section. If you've ever been to our apartment, this sort of 'tear apart re-arranging' happens often!

- A new daily read of mine. Am I the last to find her?!

- After ditching the idea to dip-dyeing eggs and writing names on them (we all know that would turn into an epic mess!).... I decided on these as the perfect name cards for an Easter Brunch.

- Speaking of brunch, Saturday is our April addition of Blog Brunch (1pm EST // 10am PST). Join us for some amazing talks, tips and tricks on everything 'Blog Design'. Plus, we got super fancy and added a note sheet you can download to use during the brunch!

- Two of our favorite people are getting hitched next weekend and after realizing my dream dress was too expensive and sold out across the web, I decided to have my own made! Look forward to sharing the DIY process once it's finished.

- This will be the only time I'll sink to this level, pinky promise, but you absolutely must watch this freakishly adorable video. It will make you squeal from cuteness!

- Last, but not least, let's play the 'Who Has the Cooler Family?' game. Well, guess what.... I win! And yes, when you get us all in a room together, it is quite the eclectic mix and range of hipster. And it's awesome.

Have a wonderful weekend!
