DIY :: Cord & Bead Bracelet

I'm not sure if your brain works even remotely like mine (probably to your benefit if it doesn't), but I remember the moment I saw this bracelet come through my inbox in the lastest Uncovet newsletter and, instead of wanting to click 'buy'.... I immediatly went out and bought the supplies myself. And, might I add, for a fraction of the cost it was to purchase it. Uncovet= 0; Amy = 1.

- cord

- pliers

- eye pin

- stone

- super glue

- end cap

- lobster claw

- jump rings

- Start by wrapping the cord around your wrist and cut it so you have the desired length. Measure it. Then cut that in half. Lay out the stone and end caps and cut down the cord to keep it at the original length with the stone and caps included now. I cut off about a tip of a fingers worth on each. Remember, you can always take more off, but you can add it back on.

- Super glue the end caps to one side. I then attached a jump ring to each side and the lobster clap to one side. Repeat and glue end caps to the other side. I got a little super glue happy and some of mine squeezed down the side of the caps..... so try not to do as I did and go easy on the super glue!

- Attach jump rings to those ends as well.

- Put the eye pin through the stone and, using the pliers, curve the end in a circle to match the other side. This is tricky at times, but watch this video to get some pointers.

- Attach the jump rings to the eye pin circles. Closing off the circle and completing the bracelet.

- All done. Now you've got yourself a cord and stone bracelet. Yee-haw!

Trying to decide if I wear it alone or stack it with other bracelets. What do you think?

Blog Brunch x Ernest Alexander

We Blog Brunch ladies were honored to be asked to partner with New York designer Ernest Alexander for the launch of his first official women's line. Held at their New York showroom, we had drinks served up by Brooklyn Gin, savory bites by Anna Carl of The Yellow Table and gorgeous bags at our fingertips in all directions! It was also perfect timing, as Alt Summit was the following day and some of our favorite blogger friends from afar had descended on the Big Apple.

With the help of our amazing sponsors, the Ernest Alexander crew and Anna, we were able to put on one heck of a party for our brunchers, resident bloggers and Alt Summit attendees! The showroom comes complete with a rooftop and view of the Empire State Building like you've never seen before. If you haven't yet check out the new EA line of stunning bags, you need to stop what you're doing now and head here --->

Thank you to all the bloggers and wonderful ladies (and gentlemen!) who stopped out!

Cabin Dreams + Week(end) Roll Call

Coming into the office today I saw loads of commuters with their weekender bags packed and ready to flee the city as the clock hits 5pm. Frankly, it makes me want to jump in a car, grab our friends and head back out to our dream cabin in Maine. I really need to invest in a teleportation machine!

A glimpse inside the inner workings of my mind this week ::

- After eyeing pages of inspiring images like these and these..... I've decided I want tear apart and re-do the whole back section of our loft and add a sweet desk / office corner section. If you've ever been to our apartment, this sort of 'tear apart re-arranging' happens often!

- A new daily read of mine. Am I the last to find her?!

- After ditching the idea to dip-dyeing eggs and writing names on them (we all know that would turn into an epic mess!).... I decided on these as the perfect name cards for an Easter Brunch.

- Speaking of brunch, Saturday is our April addition of Blog Brunch (1pm EST // 10am PST). Join us for some amazing talks, tips and tricks on everything 'Blog Design'. Plus, we got super fancy and added a note sheet you can download to use during the brunch!

- Two of our favorite people are getting hitched next weekend and after realizing my dream dress was too expensive and sold out across the web, I decided to have my own made! Look forward to sharing the DIY process once it's finished.

- This will be the only time I'll sink to this level, pinky promise, but you absolutely must watch this freakishly adorable video. It will make you squeal from cuteness!

- Last, but not least, let's play the 'Who Has the Cooler Family?' game. Well, guess what.... I win! And yes, when you get us all in a room together, it is quite the eclectic mix and range of hipster. And it's awesome.

Have a wonderful weekend!
