Beasts of the Southern Wild :: Friday Flick

It has been a while since I've been left haunted by a film. Haunted in the good way that it just sticks with you like a spell, you can't stop thinking about it and then you can't stop telling everyone that they must see it..... and you just can't explain why, but they must.

Thanks to Brewing Culture/Furst Access, E and I were able to attend a screening for "Beasts of the Southern Wild". Shot along the fringes of Southern Alabama and focused heavily on one singularly dynamic six-year-old girl named Hushpuppy (she should win an Oscar) who lives with her dad in a community called The Bathtub. Most recently, the film took top honors at both Sundance and Cannes. And rightfully so. It's an amazing example of the power of creativity and poetic writing.

I mean, the shot above is epic in itself, so you can only imagine how the rest of the films dynamic visuals will stay with you for days. Don't just take my word for it, check out the trailer for yourself.

So tell me, what films have put a spell on you? Please share below. And bonus points if I can watch it on Netflix Instant!
