I'm Dreaming Of + Week(end) Roll Call

20111209_Winter Wonderland.jpg

With all the holiday spirit in the air, the Christmas trees on every corner, the wreaths hung on doors and Mariah Carey playing in every store.... my winter wonderland dreams have begun. I grew up in the Midwest, so a white Christmas was expected. It has been unseasonably warm in the city these past couple of weeks, but now that we are inching closer to Dec 25th.... I'm dreaming for at least one huge snowfall to coat the city before we depart for Texas. I want to stroll by the holiday windows on 5th Avenue with little white snowflakes cascading through the air, with a coffee in hand, and let's be honest, probably Mariah Carey playing in the speakers (her holidays album is everywhere this time of year people). Is that so much to ask for?

Where did this week go? A few things I found of interest the past seven days ::

- This

article on being a 'Dragon Mom'

brought me to tears. I am not a mother yet, but do look forward to being one

(no time soon people!)

, so I can't even imagine what this mother is going through. Read her story, it's heartbreaking.... but it's full of truth and hope.

"In the big scheme of things, the work will come and go, the trends will shift, there will be good years and down years, but investing in community and people is something that will prove worthwhile. I hope to keep that a priority, not just in theory, but also in practice."

 - my

husband

..... it's statements like that where I'm reminded how lucky I am. Read his

- Lately, I've really loved finding and following some great vintage styled blogs. The top two I absolutely adore so far ::

Bleubird Vintage

 and

 A Beautiful Mess

. Any others you recommend with that style?

- If you loved the

Factory 20

post, you'll probably also be a fan of

School House Electric

. Known for their lighting and fixtures, the recently expanded to include a large catalog of old but new products that are reminiscent of your elementary school days. Dear Santa, I'll take one of everything!

Have a wonderful weekend and join me in wishing for snow!
