I was recently asked what the most important moment of my life was in 2011. Good question, but hard to answer. Ask me about 2010 and that's easy-peasy.... the day I married E, of course! I joy-cried the whole way down the aisle. But I was stumped at the answer to 2011 for a while. Best way to solve this conundrum.... a top 5 list, of course.
The Top 5 Moments of 2011 - (in no particular order!) ::
1 :: Meeting our nephew Liam for the first time. Welcoming the first of the next generation into the family helps put the miracle of life into perspective.
2 :: Carving out time to nurture a passion. Life is too short to not be pursuing things which makes your heart full. It's cliche but so very true.
3 :: Spending July 4th in Brooklin, Maine. Some trips just resonate, and this one did exactly that. An epic time spent with epic people.
4 :: Celebrating 1 year of marriage. I hit the husband jackpot.
5 :: Watching my father say 'I Do' in a city he loves to a woman he loves. Again, I joy-cried through the entire ceremony.
It's been a good year.
Twelve months is a long time, yet it goes by so quickly. I remember sitting in school watching the clock slowly tick by and now I look up and scream 'How is it already 4pm?!'. E and I have decided to take time to look back over the past 365 days and be thankful for all the trips, the concerts, the family dinners, the weddings, the holidays, the birthdays, the sunrises, the sunsets, the roof over our head, the New York moments and especially for each other. Anytime a complaint starts to surface, it's a quick reminder of all the moments we've had that some go lifetimes never experiencing. It's too easy to take things for granted and harder to take the time to reflect.
So now it's your turn, what was your most important moment of 2011? I'd love to hear!
Happy New Year! xx
