We’re gearing up for a holiday weekend around here! This time last year, we were out in one of our favorite little seaside towns, Bellport, enjoying the sun and small town quaintness. Since we are already have a trip planned for next weekend, we are staying here in Brooklyn this time around. Thankfully, so are most of our friends, so we won’t feel abandoned as the city becomes a ghost town during summer holidays!
I am, however, looking forward to relaxing and getting some work done around our apartment. Since Eric has been traveling so much, I have this on-going list of ‘manly things’ I need done or help doing. Plus, we recently had our kitchen renovated and have been wanting to put up a subway tile backslash on our own. If you’ve done this DIY style, please let me know if that’s a good idea or famous last words!
In true Weekend Update style, here are some articles and noteworthy things I wanted to share ::
- We love the slick layouts and clean designs of our favorite brands websites now, but do you remember what they used to look like? This was a blast from the past for me when I saw what sites like AOL, Google and CNN used to look like 20 years ago!
- I will absolutely be buying this book.
- Every time we fly home to LGA, I always pray that we are taking the flight route that brings us straight over the city so we can get that iconic view from the window. It truly never gets old. I enjoyed this article that features the most scenic airports in the world. If you currently have the travel bug, don’t click that link..... it's some serious eye candy!
- I laughed, I cried, I related, I swore they quote me directly and then I laughed some more because literally last week…. I found a Goldfish in my bra. Mom’s…. this is a must read.
** Holy Holiday Weekend Sales! Nothing has been left at full price, I swear. This is a great weekend to scope out some great summer staples. **
Nordstrom: It’s their ‘Half Yearly Sale’, which sounds awkward when you say it outloud. Maybe just ‘Memorial Day Sale’ didn’t sound fun enough? There’s massive savings to be had if you’ve been holding out on getting any great staples for summer. My favorite are these jean shorts, this shirt and perfect for anything summer dress.
Current/Elliott: Home to some of my favorite jeans, their having a 20% off sale with CODE: MD2015.
Joe Fresh: My favorite favorite favorite store has 30% all regularly priced apparel. This store has really been my one-stop-shop over the past year. They have clean, quality and on trend basics at a super affordable price point. Their kids stuff is usually super cute too!
Sam Edelman: Every pair I own from Sam are the most comfortable shoes. From heels to flats, I’m a loyal fan of theirs. Hard to pick favorites, but right now, these flats, these wedges and theses heels have my attention.
