Hello! We’re happy you’re here. Do things look a bit different? Let me share why!

If you’ve been following along over the past four years, then you’d know the space hasn’t really changed that much visually, but my direction and style has. As anyone who makes anything understands, you start to dislike the layout and design of your work/site/blog so much that it needs to be changed… like now. So, that was maybe 10 months ago for me. You might consider this my second child, because that is how long it has taken for it to come to life. So thrilled that day has finally arrived!

After Parker was born I really needed to take some time to decide where this space fit into our daily lives. Not only was I trying to be more present in my family life, I was also learning how to manage time between a full-time job (that I love), full-time mom/wife mode (that I love) and our community (that I love). After all of that, when would I write?  Eric and I spent many nights talking about what I wanted to do with this space, why I like to blog and where I see it going in the future... and I realized that I still have a fire in my heart to write, to share, to create content. The desire was there, but the platform where it was being shared felt so... well... not me. So my motivation to put it out there was low. When I looked at the site, it felt like a stranger!

Instead of outsourcing and switching platforms, we decided to put a little bit of elbow grease into it. We figured we would teach ourselves some stuff and design the darn things ourselves. Famous last words, right? This was bound to cause more of an uproar in our marriage than #thedress. But, surprise! We’re still married and we finished the site! After drawing out my dream design and layout, Eric went to work making it happen. We stuck with old faithful, Squarespace, and she hasn’t let us down. We weren’t sure if they would have all that we needed, but they were able to accommodate all of my non-negotiables and I only had to compromise a few times. So I’d say that’s a huge win! And it saved us literally thousands of dollars in the long run…. phew.

My goal was to create a place that was more in tune with my visual style and had a bit of unique flare to it. Something I was both proud of and also something you, as the reader, would enjoy visiting. Here’s the thing, you can’t reinvent the wheel much when it comes to blog layouts, there are just some things that need to be where they need to be or else it starts to get a bit confusing and over complicated. Or maybe I’m old and, in that case, just let me complain about complicated sites! So, we’ve stuck with the same principle as the old site, clean and straight-forward. The content will be with the same intention - quality over quantity - but now that this new space exists, you’ll be seeing a lot more of that quality stuff up here. So enough of the talk, let’s get to the good stuff! Here are a few of the new key features you will find on the site!

This is my favorite part! Gosh, I hope you like it! I loved the idea of coming to the site and having this sort of visual diary that gives the reader an immediate option of where to start exploring. You can be directed to categories or social media pages or specific posts or just click on ‘Latest Post’ and it will take you straight to the blog. There are a few fun gifs plugged in there as well! We plan to update these images and links a few times a year to keep things fresh and seasonal.

As much as my ideas for the redesign were important, so were yours as the reader. I am a huge fan of feedback and one of the things I’ve heard was to have a section of popular, or most read, posts. In the end, we all want to know what everyone else is reading!

There are so many ways to follow along with people these days. If you’re like me and work best when things are sent directly to your email inbox so you don’t miss them, then this is your jam. Every time a new post is published, it will be delivered straight into your inbox. Don’t worry, no spam allowed and you can unsubscribe at anytime. #nopressure #nospam

The inspiration behind this little section was the age old question of “Where did you find that?”. I love a one stop shop for inspiring, hand picked products and goods and this is my little home for that. You’ll find a lot of my everyday closet pieces, my favorite home decor pieces and of course my top baby picks. I’ll try to keep this as updated as possible and seasonally, you can judge that timeline from the date posted at the top of the page.

Squarespace has a great new feature for those of us who are just too darn lazy to leave a comment, but who want to express our feelings the only way we know how…. by clicking on a little heart icon at the bottom of the post. It’s just like Instagram, but if you try to double tap my photos, it’s not going to work. But you can just tap away at that heart and I'll know you 'liked' it!

Trying to read a post on your phone? Access the shop on your iPad? You’re in luck. This baby is now responsive (that’s techy terms for ‘looks pretty and functional on all devices’) and you can test this by clicking on the corner of your screen and dragging it to make it smaller and larger. The site will respond and re-configure accordingly. She’s a smart one.

So there you have it. I still can’t believe we actually finished it. There were weeks I wasn’t sure we were going to. And then there were the weeks I was dragging out publishing it because I am a lethal combo of a Type A personality and second-guessing wuss. Trust me, there are likely still kinks to work out - we're only human - but she's in pretty good shape. Thanks for being a supporter of this little part of the internet. This wouldn't be so fun if it wasn't for those of you who read my ramblings, leave comments and send encouraging notes and emails. I love sharing things with you here and I hope you continue to stop by and say Hello
